Welcome to Manteaus Daily. Manteaus are glamorous and rebellious tight body-hugging coats or tunics or shirt dresses. They are a distinctly European outfit, based on the British and French trench coat. However, in the last 5 years, they have become a Middle Eastern, specifically Iranian/Persian, symbol of freedom, love for democracy, and the proud and defiant desire of women to represent themselves as fully sexual human beings.

As a young woman who has experienced life in a dictatorial country (in Europe, not in the Middle East, but still) up close and is proud to have lived in a free Western country for most of her life, I simply adore looking at this fashion and love to express the ideas behind it through my own style. I love ANY defiant fashion- my three major influences are L.A. San Fernando Valley sexual culture (my inspiration #1 is Jenna Jameson after all!), NYC hip-hop culture, and of course, the manteau culture. I own about 20 different types of manteaus, all bought here.

This blog is the only place where those who love to wear this fashion or to look at women that do can get their fix.? I may also post some pics of myself wearing my own version of this fashion (mine is even more tight fitting than the Persian style, involves the wearing of low baseball caps with scarves on shoulders rather than scarves on the head OR wearing a hood or snood pushed back on the head, and is much more hip-hop influenced).

Almost every day I will post a picture from my huge collection of manteau style photos. I’d love to post some of my own manteau pics up here, but I will have to blur the face out, for privacy reasons (not because I’m afraid of men, but because I don’t want anti-manteau, anti-woman fanatics knowing what I look like! I love it when men look at me, especially my boyfriend! :-)

Enjoy Manteaus Daily? and please show your support for all Western values-seeking movements worldwide!

Today, roomie & I went into the city for relaxing after a hard & long college course and so it happened we discovered a new 2nd hand shop. Only a few days ago I was not very into 2nd hand shops as those that I had seen where filled with crap and with crap only! Plus they had such a strange smell… eeew. Anyway, that one was different, the look, what it sold and how the owner dressed and presented stuff. Not expecting anything I looked through some bags and found an old leather bag, logo: Gucci.

No need to say I took it, right ;)

Well I don’t really know whether it is real or not, so here my question to all who might know, fashionistas etc what you might be able to tell me about that bag. I found out that the inverted GG logo was only introduced in the sixties and –> fendi bag already since the 1920s. The shop started as pure leather shop and another roomie who studies design since 4 years said that the leather from the bag is indeed high quality, still I have my doubts…

!!!IF? ANYONE? CAN? HELP,? PLEASE? DON’T? HESITATE? TO? COMMENT!!!

There are 4 key winter accessories that every girl needs in her closet: cute boots, a great hat, and a cashmere scarf. I think without these, you would be lost and cold.

First, the boots are a must have for everyone. You can get short ankle boots or the knee length ones that are so trendy these days. Both types of boots can be worn to the office or out on a regular day, depending on their style and fit. A great pair of boots will keep your feet warm, will prevent the snow from getting into your socks, and will match every great winter outfit you have.

A great hat is what makes you look distinctive. They say that heat rises out of your head so keeping your head warm is key to keeping your entire body warm. I have a beautiful grey hat that fits perfectly on my head and surprisingly, does not ruin my hair. Make sure you try on the hat, keep it on, and then take it off after a few minutes to see the impact it could do on your hair. You don’t want to ruin your hair with a great hat.

The next thing you need is a cashmere cardigan. These are so soft and easy to throw on. You can wear them over a light t-shirt or a long sleeve shirt. Some people have even worn them over other sweaters.  Burberry Cashmere scarf are so easy to throw on and so easy to take around with you that you will be grateful to have this item during the winter.

Finally, the last thing you need is a cashmere scarf. It keeps your neck warm and cashmere is so great because it is not itchy like wool. Especially for covering your neck, you want to have something that won’t make you itch all of the time. The scarf is a great accessory for this and depending on how you wear it, it can change your look dramatically.

A trend I’m sure you have noticed by now are the plaid patterns that are popping up on bags, shoes, jackets and dresses.  I’ve also admired a groomsman styled in cranberry colored plaid pants and a charcoal sport coat as a daring alternative to the traditional tuxedo for a wedding.

I thought today I would share with you some of my favorite plaid finds.  I’m sure this goes without saying—but one only needs a single plaid item to make your point. :)   That means no matching a plaid shirt with plaid shoes!

What are some  of your favorite trends this season?

We have so many womens shoes(Cheap Firetrap Shoes) on the market we can be spoilt for choice. Or often we just can’t find the shoes we are looking for but see a must-have pair of fashion shoes that will go with nothing in our wardrobe! And of course these are the shoes we’ll buy, and then we must go online again tomorrow to search for the shoes we do need! Love them or hate them we all need shoes. People say we look for three main things when we are shopping for womens shoes. Quality, price and comfort.

Shoe Quality

We associate clarks shoes with quality. The world of womens shoes is competitive. There are thousands of budding wannabe designers all over the world aspiring to becoming the next Jimmy Choo. Find a manufacturer who will give you the quality you want at the price you want to pay. Clarks, Startrite, crocs, Lotus, Firetrap, Hush Puppies, Lelli Kelly, Fly and Ugg all manufacture shoes for women. You may find quality and comfort vary from ladies shoes, mens shoes and childrens shoes even within the same manufacturer. So if your spouse or child wants a pair of shoes, make sure the quality is still the same as your womens shoes. Happily, most manufacturers set a standard and will work to it.

Price

If you’re attending a single function and you’re thinking of buying a new pair of designer shoes then have a look at the outlet stores. There are plenty of online stores who sell designer womens shoes at knock down prices. You can often find discount vouchers online to use at online shoe stores.

Comfort

Does this occasion call for comfort shoes or knock em dead gorgeous clarks boots.  You can often buy a pair of shoes that double up and look good at the office party and also at a casual dinner. But these will not be as comfortable as your regular womens work shoes.

Sports shoes(Cheap Firetrap Shoes) are usually comfortable. They have to be! If you are playing tennis for a few hours or are running a marathon, then you must have shoes that are comfortable.

YAY!? I am out from under my lace scarf! It’s done- finished, blocked, and already worn!? It’s so pretty, but dang did that one snooze for a long time! The relief I feel is great… now to tackle some more lingering projects.

I also finished up a beaded crochet bracelet that was lingering from Christmas time and I finished my second felted chick.? You’ll remember that my friend Malaika’s little boy was the recipient for the first felted chick, I think my high school friend Phaedra’s daughter who is on the way will be the recipient of the second one.

My new “to-do” Knitting list

  • Itty-bitty Mary-Jane’s for (Phaedra’s little one!)
  • Lace Wing Scarf (for mom)
  • Black Sheep (for me!)
  • Sizzle tanktop in aqua Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool (for me!)
  • Black Cashmere Mobious (it’s been on the needles for 3 years this June!)
  • Entralac purse in browns (for me!)

Grey Gardens

My love for Grey Gardens and Little Edie Beale is not a new affair. From obscurity to Broadway to its cannibalization starring Drew Barrymore, I will forever be enamored with one of the most stylish women to ever exist. Little Edie Beale is terribly fabulous. This evening I watched previously unseen footage shot by the Maysles of the Beale duo and was thrown even further into Edie’s world. I own Grey Gardens on film – the version before it went out of print – and I cannot believe it took me this long to watch The Beales of Grey Gardens. Naturally I compiled some pieces that would help anyone slip into the style of Little Edie. These should assist you in deciding what your best costume of the day is.

1. Women’s Ruched Halter Swimsuit - $19.50 – Old Navy
2. Little Edith Bouvier Beale Reproduction Brooch – $250
3. Starburst Silk Scarf - $385 – Missoni
4. Patent Leather Peep Toe Pump – $550 – Christian Louboutin
5. Ivy Tights - $6.80 – Forever 21
6. Gold Buttoned Trench Coat – $1,895.00 – Burberry Prosum

The Burberry Prorsum Men’s Autumn/Winter 2009/2010.
I really like this collection, well, what’s see-able of it at the moment. Sure it isn’t ground-breaking or extraordinary, but everything comes together well, and it’s looks that I myself would, or would like to portray, and I’m not going to rant on about the colours and how they work together, because I would look like a loserrr.

So here’s the three that stood out to me, that I wish I could buy any item from…

Pashmina Silk Designer Scarf

Pashmina Silk Designer Scarf

Photograph courtsey Yours Elegantly - Womens Pashmina Burberry Scarf

Pashmina is a textile made from fine Cashmere wool. This wool comes from pashmina goat, which is a special breed of goat living only in Himalayas. As pure pashmina cannot endure high tension pashmina fabric is usually blended with silk in 70% pashmina/30% silk blend. Pashmina clothing ranges in size from scarf to to wrap or stole to full sized shawl. Authentic pashmina shawls are lightweight and warm, soft and drape nicely. Cashmere products are very chic fashionable accessory and there are different styles in wearing of the pashmina.
